2026 Off the Clock - APA Los Angeles

Six photography students from California Baptist University have been selected for the highly competitive 2026 “Off the Clock” curated photography exhibition presented by the American Photographic Artists Los Angeles (APA LA). The selected students are Ella DuPree, Isiah Squire, Jossely Guillen, Mariah Therese German, Nathanael Mudlaff, and Uriel Sanchez, whose work was chosen for the prestigious annual exhibition celebrating outstanding personal photography by emerging and established artists from around the world.

Now in its fifteenth year, OFF THE CLOCK is recognized as one of the premier curated photography competitions showcasing inspired personal work from emerging and established photographers around the world.

Each year, APA LA invites a distinguished leader from the international photography community to curate the exhibition. For the 2026 competition, acclaimed publisher and founder of Nazraeli Press, Chris Pichler, selected his top 100 images from submissions worldwide.

“This recognition reflects the creativity, technical excellence, and artistic vision of our photography students,” said Program Coordinator & Associate Professor of Photography, Christopher Kern. “To have six students selected in such a respected international competition is an incredible achievement and a testament to the strength of CBU’s photography program.”

Selected artists will receive exceptional exposure through APA LA’s professionally printed and digital exhibition catalog distributed to influential professionals in advertising, corporate photography, and fine art sectors. Their work will also be featured in APA LA’s online gallery and promoted across its social media and web platforms, providing visibility to thousands of industry professionals, curators, and potential clients worldwide.

In addition, all selected works will be professionally matted, framed, and displayed during APA LA’s highly anticipated industry gala opening reception in Southern California, attended by leading creatives from across the region.

The annual OFF THE CLOCK exhibition continues to provide emerging photographers with an important platform to share personal artistic work while connecting with the broader professional photography community.

About the Curator | Chris Pichler

Chris Pichler founded Nazraeli Press in Munich, Germany, in 1989. In 1997, the press moved to the United States and in 2002 opened a subsidiary in the United Kingdom. Nazraeli Press has published over 700 books on the fine and applied arts with an emphasis on contemporary photography. The books are distributed worldwide. Pichler edits and designs most of the books published by Nazraeli. He is known for his unorthodox use of common materials—such as paper, wood, plastic, and metal—and for introducing elements of handiwork into otherwise mass-produced objects. The press’s award-winning books have themselves been the subject of exhibitions and books about books. In 2024, Pichler opened the Daido Moriyama Star Space at The Reef in downtown Los Angeles, and that same year, co-founded La Sena Gallery in the same building.
