Burke Kaese
Sharing perspective on the intersection of places and people as seen through his camera’s lens. For Kaese, the essence of a place is not defined solely by its buildings or structures but by many factors, including how architecture is situated within a broader setting and its relationship with the surrounding landscape, environment, community, culture, and history. He also considers the materials used to build it, the intricate design details, the transformation of a place throughout the day and across seasons, and how it is used by the public.
Kaese aims to invite viewers into these spaces so they can experience these details and observe how people integrate into a setting, connect with the environment, utilize the space, and express how they may feel while there. From missions and museums to office buildings, hotels, and performance venues, Kaese captures the essence of what it feels like to inhabit these environments, becoming intimate with both their grand and subtle details. These are places that may be sacred, cherished, or valued by individuals in unique ways. Through his work, Kaese hopes to inspire others to slow down and truly observe the details and beauty of the spaces that surround them, wherever they may be.
