Norrisa Spagner

Norrisa Spagner’s autobiographical project, Hands of My Village, captures the portraits of some of the individuals that have supported Norrisa and have been a source of guidance throughout her journey in life. Through this project, Norrisa could reconnect with the family she had not seen since before the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a dynamic that is captured in each portrait. The photographer reaches out to her family and invites them to share what their hands signify to them. Norrisa views hands as an integral way for people to connect with others and the world around them. Hands are a mode of exchange where one can both give and receive.

“There is a surrendering that happens when one allows the Lord to have His way. One can then accept all the challenges that life throws their way with grace, and in return can receive the blessings God has for them.” -Norrisa Spagner

To raise a child, memories are created. It takes a village, connection, and time spent.
