Juliette Doan

Juliette Doan's photographic work explores the depths of Vietnamese culture, a realm that surrounds her constantly. As a first-generation Vietnamese American, she has lived within the embrace of her cultural heritage while sensing a slight disconnection from both the Vietnamese and American worlds. Adorned in the traditional Vietnamese dress known as Áo Dài, Doan's art illuminates the exhilaration of reconnecting with her roots. Her lens captures the essence of this experience through the lens of observing her younger sisters, who, much like herself, navigate the discovery of Vietnamese traditions that once felt distant amidst their adaptation to American society.
