“No Test, No Testimony” is Josiah Grant’s exploration of human struggle. No matter the person, no matter the place, people experience difficulties throughout their lives. While the shape of it varies, the impact of it remains. Grant’s photographic project tackles these realities through a series of intricate portraits. In these portraits of individuals who’ve experienced extreme difficulty – whether the loss of a loved one or a nearly impossible addiction to break – these participants have found a way forward through their struggles. These portraits acknowledge the tests that life has given these participants while, more importantly, highlighting the transformation and, ultimately, the testimony that follows.
